I couldn't have wished for better weather (check out the blue sky :)) here in Ballarat for our first market of the year. John and I loaded up the Saab with lots of new Diddle & Ro goodies, said goodbye to the kids and headed off to the Daylesford Makers Market.
It was my very first market since the Christmas Twilight market back in December 2010, so I was feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement. It was great having John with me to help set up and take over the stall when I needed a break. He's also a pretty good salesman!
Daylesford was absolutely jam-packed with visitors for the Chillout Festival this weekend. The market was held in the Primary school this time, instead of the town hall, however people didn't seem to mind having to walk a little further to reach us. There was a steady stream of customers most of the time....it was a great day.
The
'Gnome Town' dress looked very sweet displayed on the new mannequin. There were heaps of "that's so cute'" the whole day and I just had to smile each time someone would stop 'dead in their tracks' to take a closer look.
The
"Go Scottie' Romper (seen on the small mannequin in the middle) was a real hit. I wasn't sure whether I would sell any at this market as its Autumn here and I thought no one would want summer clothes. I was so wrong!
Of course while in Daylesford I had to visit some of my favourite thrifty shops. I left John to mind the stall while I ducked into the Daylesford Bazaar. I found a few metres of bright 1960's cotton fabric, the cutest 1970's wrapping paper and a 10mt roll of vintage wallpaper with pretty green flowers.
It's a public holiday in Victoria this Monday...Yay. I'm really looking forward to a sleep-in, then getting to work on some new items for our next market. We'll be in Bendigo on the March 26....I'm really looking forward to it.

Tubes and tubes of pretty vintage buttons in lots of lovely colours. Only $2 per tube......bargain.
Vintage biscuit tin from the late 50's/early 6o's'. I just love the colours. It's in wonderful condition. I think I will store my vintage greeting cards in this lovely find.

This cute miniture tea set. I remember playing with one of these (though I wasn't allowed!) when I used to visit my Grandmas as a little girl. Miranda loves it.
Well! I'm off to wash a mountain of dirty dishes......sigh.
It's a cold Autumn day here in Ballarat ( oh how I love central heating), so I decided it would be great time to catch up on some sewing. All the late nights from being sick had finally caught up with my almost 18month old son Ronan...he slept for almost three hours this afternoon(WOW). I enjoyed sitting inside sewing, while listening to the wind howl outside.
The vintage fabric quilt I made for my madeit store proved popular, so I decided to make some more. I'll be seeing fabric squares in my sleep tonight :)
My order of fabric from the USA finally came...Yippee! I really love the mushroom fabric. This will look so cute made up into pinafore dresses. Should keep me busy for awhile.
This is the very first dress made on my new sewing machine. I'm really pleased with how it turned it. I made the pattern myself and was not sure how it would turn out. I will definitely be using this pattern again.
My 8yr old daughter Miranda celebrated her birthday yesterday. We decided to do some shopping. She chose some fabric to make a dress and top for herself...pink of course. The pattern looks really easy so it should only take me one night to make both. Did I mention I love my new sewing machine. 
What a great day! The sun is shining, the kids are at school and I've just finished this vintage fabric quilt I've been working on all week. I'm really pleased with how it worked out. I love the pretty vintage sheeting edging and how cuddly it is. I've just listed it on my made it store here.
Found this beautiful store called Pomme De Jour on eBay.co.uk. I just love this vintage 1930's Goldilocks fabric.
